Junior network administrator

June 2020 to June 2021: Level 3 support to the NOC with weekly on-call, root cause analyses for network-wide events, core and backbone maintenance including internet exchange bundles and IP blocks, and firewall firmware and Layer 2/3 changes.

Core and data-centre moves

  • Services-core refresh (28 hours): IPTV source migration, global VLAN migration, DNS traffic re-route, and management and access switch moves to the new cores.
  • Switch end of support (27 hours): moved the cloud-recording managers and streamers to the new data-centre switches, including the database move.
  • Backbone upgrade (23 hours): supported the core router upgrades to 24.2.2.
  • Tunnel aggregators (15 hours): VPN migration batches and certificate renewals.
  • IP transit BGP maintenance, and work on the IPTV VPN.

SolarWinds to OpenNMS

Moved voice monitoring to OpenNMS between November 2023 and October 2025 (37 hours).

  • Added production and pre-production voice nodes tier by tier.
  • Added SBC capacity graphs to the new monitoring.
  • Wrote the process for adding nodes into the wiki.
  • Owned 36 problem records through to root cause.

Security reviews and hardening

  • Scanned the Linux voice and IPTV systems (61 hours) and cleaned up routes on the SBCs (2024).
  • Reviewed publicly reachable IPTV and voice hosts (15 hours, 2023).
  • Patched firewalls for published vulnerabilities (2023 to 2025).
